Biannually, the American Kennel Club hosts the Lone Star State Classic Dog Show in Dallas, TX.
Owners, handlers, and groomers all play strict roles in getting dogs ribboned, some show in the hopes to compete at Westminster while others compete to elevate the status of their dog. In a building with over 1,400 dogs representing 70 different breeds I use flash to spotlight the unique characteristics of this event. An unlikely vanity pageant for anxious handlers sporting far gone fashions, often times sharing the same hair care products used on themselves with the contestants. Some dogs have the same lineage that date back five generations. Seldom do we see people who will travel across state lines via car, plane, or RV to attend shows across the country for another owners pet.
